DSLR Workshop with Rachel Goldstein (4 Thursdays, 2/19+26, 3/5+12)
Welcome to this hands-on learning experience for DSLR (digital single-lens reflex) users! Veteran photographer and instructor Rachel Goldstein will guide you through the ins and outs of DSLR photography. This in-person event is perfect for beginners looking to improve their skills or enthusiasts wanting to take their photography to the next level.
Four classes available as singles ($85) or take the whole series ($300):
Intro to DSLR: Learn how to have creative control over exposure and start to learn a bit about controlling motion and depth of field.
Continue to practice creative control over exposure while focusing more on how you can capture motion. How does freezing motion allow you to capture exciting moments and what does blurring motion allow you to convey? Explore different ways to capture and have creative control over motion in these 2 hours.
Explore Depth of Field, Lighting, and Focus: Photography is all about capturing and learning to see light. Continue to fine tune your creative control over exposure while learning what depth of field brings to your photography and what you can creatively express while having creative control of lighting and focus.
Digital Photography: Requires a way to process your work unless you want the photos to all disappear into an endless void. In this workshop, bring the photos you’ve taken so far and learn how to use Photoshop and Lightroom. This basic workshop will introduce you to Lightroom and Photoshop so that you can start working with your photos after taking them. You will need your own laptop and the Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan to last for at least the duration of this class (you could use the free trial to learn about it in this class and then choose to pay for it for a month or have a yearly subscription)
You will also need a card reader, whether that is built into your laptop or one that plugs in so you can transfer your photos to the computer. Most cameras also come with a cord that allows you to upload the photos this way, but a card reader is better for your camera.
